An encounter took place between Indian security forces and militants in Handwara, Jammu, and Kashmir. In this encounter, five security personnel including Colonel Ashutosh Sharma and a Major were martyred. Two militants were also killed in an encounter in the Chanji Mohalla area of Handwara. But there is an atmosphere of mourning for the martyred soldiers across the country. Everyone on social media is paying tribute to these martyrs. Meanwhile, many Bollywood stars also criticized the Handwara encounter and expressed condolences to the martyred soldiers.

Amitabh Bachchan

Megastar Amitabh expressed grief over the incident in Handwara. In his tweet, bowing to the martyred heroes, he wrote, 'The heart - wrenching pictures of the 'shahid' departed, at the recent attack, the family the fellow officers, all too much to digest and refer to just, that our pride for them that sacrifice is beyond any other desire. Jai Hind! And salutations.'

Anupam Kher

Actor Anupam Kher wrote in a tweet, 'Colonel Ashutosh Sharma, Major Anuj Sood, Lance Naik Dinesh Singh, Nayak Rajesh, Sub Inspector Qazi lost their lives to protect the local people in Handwara Kashmir. I hope that their death does not go in vain. I salute these heroes. May God give strength to their families.'

Hrithik Roshan

Actor Hrithik Roshan wrote on Twitter for the martyr heroes, '5 brave lives lost in Handwara. Heartbreaking. The Nation will forever be indebted to their sacrifice. Anushka Sharma

Actress Anushka Sharma wrote on her Twitter account for the martyred soldiers in Handwara, 'Soldiers are also made of flesh & blood & emotion. The men & women behind the uniform & their families require as much love, focus & respect as the uniform itself. Jai Hind, Jai Jawan.'

Ayushmann Khurrana

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has paid tribute through a special poem to the soldiers who were killed in the attack. He wrote in his poem, 'Every soldier of the country is very special, He fights until the breath is there, There is imprisonment for the happiness of families, There is an endless fast of the martyrs' mothers, Their children are heard saying, Papa is still with us.'
